FAQ
Answers to All Your Inquiries
HOW MUCH DO THE LESSONS COST?
Lessons cost only £20 for an hour group lesson, with the ability to book in with a public lesson during the week if you cannot make a university lesson. You will need to buy a sports Non-BUCS membership from the Students Union costing £40 per year, however if you already have a sports card, our membership is only £10 for an entire year.
Brookhouse also offer a riding club membership which entitles you to perks from them as well!

Lessons are every Wednesday 3-4pm for Beginners and every Friday 5-6pm for Advanced/Inter riders.
WHERE CAN I BUY MEMBERSHIP?
Please make sure you have paid your membership before riding in any lessons with us (taster sessions do not count for this), as we can check whether membership has been paid or not.

Membership can be bought from: https://www.bcusu.com/organisation/Equestrian/, simply add to basket and pay! If you are not already part of a sports team, then you will need to purchase a sports card as well.
I HAVE NEVER RIDDEN BEFORE, CAN I STILL JOIN?
Yes, of course! A large majority of our members have never ever sat on a horse before, Brookhouse teach from the very basics to more advanced lessons so there is something for everyone in a comfortable and friendly environment!
HOW CAN I BOOK A LESSON?
We need to know final numbers by Saturday the week before the lessons start, if your name is not on the lesson rota by Saturday then you will not be riding. All membership must be paid in advance otherwise you will not be allowed to ride. Payments for lessons are in cash on the day of your lesson.
We have weekly lessons which you can put down to attend on our private Facebook page
WHAT DO I WEAR?
If you already have jodhpurs, a hat, gloves and riding boots, you're set!Â
If not, then please wear jeans or leggings, a t-shirt (or comfy shirt) and, preferably, riding boots. Our riding school can provide small quantities of these boots, however it is always advisable to purchase your own, for your own safety and the horses safety.
The Equestrian Centre can provide hats but it is advisable you do buy your own.
DO YOU DO SOCIALS?
We are a very social club, both in lessons and outside of them! We regularly plan socials to go out in Birmingham, as well as meals and other fun activities during the day time such as bowling, cinema and maybe even laser tag!Â
We hope to organise hacks, on tour trips and trips to Your Horse Live, Olympia etc in the future.Â
As a sports team, we also mingle with the other BCU sports teams for socials etc so you will never be left out, we also take onboard ideas for any socials or fundraising from members.
